Special performance

"la danza del desierto" is Spanish for "The Dance of The Desert".
It is the opening movement of a larger work consisting of four parts composed entitled "The Arizona Suite" by Kevin Julien. It was written for "Piano Fusion"an Arizona based group incubated as an “Emerging Artist Group”, supported and incubated ten years ago at SNAP. They now perform regularly at the MIM, founded and led by virtuoso Pianist Diana Cobb. Originally conceived for 4 hands on 1 piano it needed to be rearranged for orchestra due to the challenges of social distancing arising from the Covid-19 Pandemic. The spectacular music video was filmed on location in Arizona with choreography by Bridgette Maria that includes Tango Argentino, Pasodoble, Flamenco and Waltz.

Sherri Smith-Dodgson
Miss Science (Sherri Smith-Dodgson) has over 17 years experience in elementary science education. In 2000 Sherri completed her MA in Organizational Management, and developed a skill to cross boundaries from public education into the private sector. In 2009, Sherri Smith Dodgson found a need for a quality, science enrichment program in the greater Phoenix area. She developed Discover Science 4 Kids, offering informal science education to students from preschool through 8th grade.

Miss Science was born in 2010 while appearing on Arizona Midday (channel 12) to promote science education in the home. DS4K/Miss Science continue to encourage students to find a love of all things science, whether it be classroom consultations, family science night, or birthday parties. Most recently, DS4K has partnered with Biz in a Boxx and the Microsoft Store to offer a series of community outreach workshops. Together, Sherri and Melissa Rose (BIAB) have created a curriculum to put an extra “E” in STEM for Entrepreneurship!

Other advisements for Sherri include:
