Vivi Erickson

Vivi Erickson is an active teacher and performer in the Phoenix area. In addition to teaching at Scottsdale Neighborhood Arts Place, Vivi performs as Assistant Principal Viola with the Arizona Opera Orchestra, substitute viola with the Phoenix Symphony and teaches strings at Desert Marigold School and at Sounds Academy.  Vivi attended Boston University, studying under Walter Trampler and George Neikrug.  Previously, Vivi was Director and instructor at Stringworks and The School for Strings in Minneapolis.  She has performed as Principal and Assistant Principal Viola with the Minnesota Opera Orchestra and the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra and has been a substitute violist with the Minnesota Orchestra and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Vivi has also appeared in the Peter Britt Music Festival (OR), Ravinia Music Festival (IL), Music in the Vineyards Chamber Music Festival (CA), as well as performing throughout Europe as a member of Spain’s Quartet Numen, Solistes de Catalunya and the Liceo Opera Orchestra.

Vivi offers a unique blend of Dounis, Suzuki and traditional methods, giving her students lifelong skills needed for success on their instrument.  It is her mission to give the love and joy of music through playing the violin and viola and help her students achieve their greatest potential.
